WCWS distributes free fruit tree saplings in Bhalwal village

This programme was attended by BDC chairman, Bhalwal block, Sarpanchs and Panchs of surrounding villages

Jammu, Aug 12: We Care Welfare Society (WCWS) Monday distributed free fruit tree saplings in a camp at Panchayat Ghar, Ghaink village, in block Bhalwal of district Jammu.

“WCWS has started a campaign “The backyard tree plantation drive” for the past few years, wherein we distribute fruit plant saplings to the underprivileged BPL families during the planting season. In the family set up, they take care of fruit plants well and later they derive the benefit of getting fruits for maintenance of their health and well being,” Dr R K Gupta, president, WCWS said, while explaining the aim and objective of the camp.

“This time, we distributed fruit plants to the women of ‘Umeed Scheme’, belonging to under-privileged families. This has also been made sure that the benefit of these fruit plants reaches to the most deserving people of the area,” he added.

More than 300 high quality grafted fruit plants were distributed free of cost. Each woman beneficiary was given three types of fruit plants i.e., Mango (Amarpali), Mosambi ( Sweet Lime )and Lime (Nimboo).

“They were also advised to dig a proper pit (one metre x one metre size), for planting these fruit plants with a mixture of well rotted manure and soil,” Dr Gupta said.

This programme was attended by BDC chairman, Bhalwal block, Sarpanchs and Panchs of surrounding villages.

They thanked and appreciated this programme of WCWS for free distribution of plants.

Dr Gupta expressed his gratitude and appreciation of Rakesh Gandotra, chairman, S D Memorial Higher Secondary School, resource person, who helped Society in arranging this charitable venture.

He also thanked BDC chairman Kuldip Raj Bhagat who made this programme possible in his Panchyat Garh, largely for the benefit of the farming community of his block. Shruti Uppal BDM, incharge Umeed Scheme, also attended plant distribution programme. She also spoke to Umeed beneficiaries about the importance of this programme.

General secretary Rajinder Gupta thanked WCWS members for their financial support.
