Srinagar, Feb 18: The Srinagar Water Works Division’s Department of Civil Investigation & Design Wing,  announced a 30-hour shutdown on February 22 and 23, 2025, to carry out necessary repair work on the Sindh Power Canal HEP Old Ganderbal and desilting of the forebay.

In a public notice issued by the Executive Engineer Water Works Division, the raw water supply to Water Treatment Plants at Nishat, Alusteng, and Rangil will be severely impacted, affecting potable water supply in major parts of Srinagar city and adjacent areas.

The affected areas include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Shuhama, Hadoora, Chatterhama, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbagh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouhpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh I Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohri Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Rainawari, Khanyar, Khayam, Nowpora, Dalgate, Konkhan, Gagribal, Nehru Park, Dal areas, Brein, Gupkar, Sonwar, Indra Nagar, Shivpora, Batwara, Pandrethan, Lal Chowk, Court Road, Residency Road, M.A. Road, Bishembar Nagar, Babademb, Fateh Kadal, Barbarshah, Habba Kadal, Gow Kadal, Shaheed Gunj, Karan Nagar, Kakasarai, Balgarden, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Bemina, Firdous Abad, parts of Batmaloo, Qamarwari, Zaina Koot, Noorabad, Umerabad, and nearby areas.

"The officials have advised people to store sufficient water to meet their needs during this period.

"Meanwhile hospitals in and around Srinagar city are requested to coordinate closely with PHE authorities for necessary arrangements. Officials said that for complaints or grievances related to water scarcity, the general public can contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains operational 24/7," the notice reads.
