Baramulla, Jun 25: The Jal Shakti department Baramulla has constituted a dedicated water crisis redressal nodal officers’ group to address the drinking water grievances following the prevailing heatwave across the Kashmir.mThe circular, issued by the office of the Executive Engineer, outlines the formation of a team of four engineers assigned as nodal officers to various sub-divisions under the jurisdiction of the division.

Their primary responsibility will be to identify, manage, and resolve water crises promptly while ensuring transparency, accountability, and citizen satisfaction.

The Nodal Officers have been tasked with developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for crisis management, monitoring field staff performance, escalating unresolved issues to higher authorities, and keeping the public informed about disruptions in water supply. They will also work on curbing illegal use of water through online boosters by promoting task force teams. A dedicated WhatsApp group will be created for real-time coordination. The group will include all four nodal officers and the Executive Engineer, where geo-tagged evidence and action taken reports will be shared regarding each grievance.

This initiative has been initiated to streamline crisis response, improve water service management, and strengthen communication between the department and the public across the Baramulla division.
