Waqf Board Recruitment Case: Delhi Court frames corruption charges against AAP MLA, 10 others

New Delhi, Jul 28: A Delhi court on Monday framed charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan and 10 others in connection with alleged illegal appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board, reports Bar & Bench. Special Judge (PC Act) Dig Vinay Singh of the Rouse Avenue Courts passed the order. A detailed copy of the judgment is awaited.

The charges stem from allegations that Khan, during his tenure as Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board from 2016 to 2021, abused his official position to make illegal recruitments, including appointing Mahboob Alam as the Board's CEO in violation of established procedures.

Others charged in the case include Mahboob Alam, Hamid Akhtar, Kifayatullah Khan, Rafisshan Khan, Imran Ali, Md Ahrar, Aquib Jawed, Azhar Khan, Zakir Khan, and Abdul Mannar. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is leading the probe into the alleged irregularities, while the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is separately investigating possible money laundering linked to the case.
