Waheed Parra attempts to raise issue in assembly
Jammu, Mar 12: PDP legislator Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Wednesday attempted to raise the issue of the ban on Awami Action Committee (AAC) and J&K Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) in the Legislative Assembly.
As soon as the Speaker initiated Question Hour, Parra rose from his seat and tried to raise the issue.
“Awami Action Committee and Itehadul Muslimeen have been banned and it is an important issue,” Parra said. He, however, was instructed by the Speaker to sit down. After a brief exchange, the House proceeded with Question Hour.
“Both the Awami Action Committee (AAC) and J&K Ittihadul Muslimeen have contributed to the fabric of unity and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir”, Parra told reports on the lawns of Legislative Assembly. He said that Mirwaiz is the most moderate voice and has never advocated violence in the region. “ Mirwaiz has appreciated the idea of dialogue and reconciliation in J&K”, said Parra. He said that his recent engagement with the Parliament of India on Waqf was not well received.“ It should have been well responded and well received,”he said.
