Vocational trainers defer protest after deliberations with officials
Srinagar, Jan 29: Jammu & Kashmir Vocational Trainers Welfare Association (JKVTWA) has postponed its planned February 3 protest following constructive talks with education authorities.
In a statement issued here, JKVTWA leadership and representatives from JKECC held discussions with Director Samagra Shiksha, Rakesh Magotra. The Association said the Director assured their demands would be forwarded to higher authorities for resolution.
"While we have postponed the physical protest, our online movement will continue. We urge all vocational trainers and supporters to stay engaged, keep up the momentum on social media, and ensure our voices are heard until our demands are officially met," the Association stated.
Key demands include removal of Vocational Training Providers (VTPs), which allegedly violate NEP 2020 guidelines, enhancement of salaries, and implementation of a proper transfer policy. The Director reportedly acknowledged that VTPs have failed to add meaningful value over the past decade.
JKVTWA has deferred the protest until February 13, expecting urgent action particularly on VTP removal and salary increments.
The meeting was attended by JKVTWA and JKECC leadership, including Shah Fayaz, along with Media Secretary Asif Jan and Core Member Akther Ali.
