VIT vice president Sankar Viswanathan gets honorary doctorate
Vellore, Feb 21: Vice President of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Sankar Viswanathan, has been conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering and Technology Management by the Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (RMUTK), Thailand.
A statement issued here said the honorary degree was awarded following the unanimous approval of the University Council, in recognition of Viswanathan’s leadership, professional achievements and contributions to the advancement of engineering and technology management.
The award was presented in the presence of Palakorn Suwanrath, Privy Council of Thailand, and Pichai Janmanee, President of RMUTK. The honour represents the highest academic recognition conferred by the university for distinguished service and professional excellence.
In his acceptance address, Dr. Viswanathan highlighted the shared cultural and knowledge traditions of India and Thailand and called for deeper academic collaboration between institutions of the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan, Ramani Balasundaram, Assistant Vice President Kadhambari S. Viswanathan and Dr. Sravan Krishna, among others.
