Kupwara, Oct 27: Member of Parliament (MP) from Baramulla, Er Rashid, Sunday today said that violence has brought destruction to the region.

Rashid was talking to media after speaking at a function organised by Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e- Taleem Teacher’s Forum. The MP said that violence has brought destruction to the entire region and it was high time to end this sphere for the long lasting peace.

Rashid said that violence cannot “take us anywhere.” "I want to tell both local and non-local actors that we want to live in peace. All issues must be resolved on table," he added. Regarding his hearing for bail which is scheduled on Monday, he said that he was hopeful of getting permanent bail. "If at all I am not granted permanent bail still I will be raising my voice for the people."

To a question about the cycle of violence in Kashmir for last few weeks, Rashid said that for the everlasting peace and stability in the region, holding talks was must with all stakeholders. “When government of India holds talks with the people of Assam, Nagaland and Ladakh then why was government reluctant to take Kashmiris on board. Labeling Kashmiris as Pakistani agents will not address the root issues or ease out the sufferings instead it will jeopardise the issue further more," he added.

"Over one lakh people including soldiers, militants and civilians have lost their lives since violence has engulfed Kashmir and it hardly matters who killed whom, what matters is that these were human lives, and each life has value,” Rashid said.
