Vigilance Awareness Week activities commence in Sopore
Sopore, Nov 3: An awareness programme was organised in Sopore to mark the celebrations of Vigilance Awareness Week.
The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, S A Raina, along with sectoral officers, field functionaries, lumberdars, chowkidars, civil society members, and prominent citizens from across the Sopore Sub Division.
During the programme, participants exchanged ideas about the perils of corruption and measures to combat this menace. The speakers highlighted the role of civil society in eradicating corruption. Among the speakers, Dr Nazarul Islam and Sahil Muzafar, along with others, shared valuable insights on combating corruption, which were appreciated by the ADC, who assured them that their suggestions would be considered to make Sopore one of the best-administered sub-districts, promoting peace, prosperity, and development.
On this occasion, an integrity pledge was administered to all participants. Everyone pledged to work together to eradicate corruption, oppose all forms of dishonesty, and foster a culture of honesty and integrity. They also committed to acting in the public interest and protecting the rights and interests of stakeholders and society at large.
“The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week aims to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of corruption. The celebrations also promote the fight against corruption and raise public awareness regarding its existence, causes, and the serious threat it poses.”
