Vehicle used for stunt driving in Sonamarg seized

Ganderbal, Jan 19: The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has seized a Maruti car after a group of boys  ``driving recklessly and endangering lives of others” were seen performing a stunt with the car.

The video featuring a group of at least five boys recklessly performing dangerous stunts in a car near Sonamarg area in Ganderbal district had gone viral on social media.

A traffic police official said that a video of five young boys from district Ganderbal hanging from the open doors and bonnet of a Maruti car bearing Reg No. JK01K 6570 in Sonmarg has gone viral on social media.

Taking cognizance of this life threatening stunt which not only endangers the lives of commuters , pedestrians and other drivers but incites teenagers for life consuming stunts, DySP Traffic Ganderbal-Bandipora Dr Mudasser Tramboo under the supervision of SSP traffic Rural Kashmir RP Singh seized the vehicle vide L-Tem No.958452 under relevant sections of MV Act. Moreover the RC cancellation of the vehicle has also been taken up with concerned authorities, the official said.

Traffic Police has advised drivers to follow traffic rules and SOPs, abstain from stunt and rash driving and actively participate in awareness programmes being conducted by traffic police during the current National Road Safety Month 2024.

The traffic police have reiterated that strict legal action against defaulters driving dangerously in violation of prescribed MV Act rules shall continue in order to save precious lives of drivers, commuters and ensure safety of the public at large.
