Vehicle plunges into Dal Lake
Srinagar, Nov 18: A vehicle plunged into Dal Lake at Foreshore Road on Monday, however driver and co-passenger had a narrow escape.
Police said the incident occurred near Duck Park. They said the incident occurred when a Thar vehicle parked on a footpath suddenly rolled back and plunged into Dal Lake Teams of River Police and the concerned police station reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation.
“We deployed our men and machinery to conduct rescue operation. Fortunately, the driver and passenger are safe. We deployed a crane to take out the vehicle, which was damaged in the incident,” said Bashir Ahmad, In charge of river police Nigeen.
The officials said that, according to the preliminary investigation, the incident did not occur due to overspeeding, and all those involved are safe.
To mention, only a few days back, a deadly accident, involving a Thar vehicle, led to the death of two youngsters. The officials have cracked down heavily on speeding vehicles. Locals have also appealed to authorities to keep a check on over-speeding and underage driving to prevent accidents.
