Srinagar, Sep 15: The valedictory function of the Six-Day Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer for teachers concluded at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar.

The programme was organised under the aegis of the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM).

Director General, CCRUM (online mode), N Zaheer Ahmad; Deputy Director, RRIUM Srinagar, Dr Irfat Ara; Director, Kupwara Satellite Campus, University of Kashmir, Prof Mubashir Masoodi; and District Ayush Officer, Anantnag, Dr Javaid Ahmad Wani, were present on the occasion.

In her welcome address, Dr Ara said the CME was distinctive in its design as it was aimed specifically at teachers of Unani Medicine.

She stressed that the programme not only revisited the fundamentals of Ilaj-bil-Tadbir but also strengthened clinical and pedagogical skills through structured academic sessions, hands-on training, and live demonstrations.

Dr Ara observed that the initiative successfully combined traditional wisdom with modern scientific perspectives.

“It has equipped teachers with deeper clinical understanding, standardized methodologies, and the confidence to guide the next generation of Unani physicians,” she said.

Delivering his valedictory address online, Director General, CCRUM, Dr Ahmad, congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the programme and appreciated the organisers for conducting it in a well-structured and impactful manner.

He reiterated the importance of Ilaj-bil-Tadbir as a holistic, non-invasive therapeutic approach in Unani Medicine and underlined its growing relevance in the present healthcare landscape.

“The progress of traditional medicine rests on five essential mantras: innovation, collaboration, integration, publication, and commercialization,” Dr Ahmad said, adding that adherence to these principles would help Unani Medicine strengthen its scientific foundation, expand globally, and achieve sustainable growth.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the resource persons for sharing their expertise and commended the enthusiasm of the participants, which, he said, made the programme academically vibrant.

Dr Ahmad extended his special congratulations to Dr Ara and her team for their tireless efforts in making the CME a success.

On the occasion, mementoes and certificates of appreciation were distributed among participants and organisers in recognition of their contributions.

The programme concluded with Principal and Research Officer (Unani), RRIUM Srinagar, Prof Arsheed Iqbal, delivering the concluding remarks.

He thanked the guests, resource persons, participants, and the organising team for their cooperation and support in ensuring the success of the CME.
