Vaishno Devi Yatra to resume today
Jammu, Oct 7: Vaishno Devi Yatra in Katra town of Reasi district, after having remained suspended for three days, will resume tomorrow, October 8, 2025.
All schools in Jammu division will also reopen tomorrow after improvement in weather.
On October 3, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) had announced that yatra would remain suspended from October 5 to 7, 2025 in view of the inclement weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
“As already communicated, all Yatra registration counters shall remain operational tomorrow, October 8, 2025 from 6 am onwards. Devotees are advised to stay updated through official communication channels for further information,” SMVDSB posted on its website this evening.
Yatra, after having remained suspended for 22 days, had resumed on September 17, 2025.
Same evening as weather turned inclement yet again, the Yatra was suspended after 5.30 pm. However, it was resumed again on September 18, 2025.
Yatra was suspended amid inclement weather conditions on August 26, hours before 34 pilgrims were killed and around 20 others were injured in a land-slide incident triggered by cloudburst on yatra track at Adhkwari.
In view of the weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across various parts of Jammu Division, the Directorate of School Education Jammu had also on October 5 had ordered the closure of all government and private schools for two days - October 6 (Monday) and October 7 (Tuesday).
As per the order issued by Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director School Education Jammu, the directive was aimed to ensure the safety and security of students and teaching staff amid the adverse weather conditions.
