Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital hosts conference on World Stroke Day

Srinagar, Nov 7: A scientific conference was conducted by the Department of Neurosciences Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Katra to observe “World Stroke Day”.

The conference started with a scientific talk by Dr Biplab Dass, Director and Senior Consultant, Neuro Intervention Narayana Hospital, Gurugram.

He described the role of interventional neuroradiology in the management of acute ischemic stroke. He explained that with recent advances, the blood clot causing brain damage can be removed using endovascular techniques. His lecture was followed by a panel discussion on recent advances in acute stroke moderated by senior consultant neurosurgeon Dr J P Singh.

The panelists included Dr Biplab Dass; Dr B R Kundal, head neurology GMC Jammu; Dr Anil Sharma, senior consultant neurosurgery; Dr Akash Parashar, consultant neurointervention at Addenbrooke Hospital; Dr Brig Fiaz Ahmed, senior consultant neurology and Dr Summit Bloria, consultant neurocritical care at SMVDNSH.
