A number of posts are lying vacant in various government departments. Reports say that these posts are not being filled up in time. Subsequently, the smooth functioning of such departments also gets affected. All government departments are important but some of them are highly important. Any manpower shortage in any department does affect its working. When the work of a department suffers, people finally suffer.

Their problems rather than getting solved get aggravated. When the government department has adequate man power it is able to work as per the expectations of people. According to reports a number of posts are lying vacant in the Power Development Department (PDD). The department is presently operating with 798 vacant posts in the engineering cadre. The staff shortage is there at all levels - from the top management to entry-level roles.

The engineers within the department are facing delay in career progression and regularisation. Reports say that only three of the five Managing Director positions are filled, while all four Executive Director (E) posts are vacant. The department is facing a number of problems because of the vacant posts.

The posts must be filled up at the earliest so that required man power is made available to the department. The working of PDD is very crucial. Power generation and its distribution is important. Because of this the working of PDD is more in focus and more under public scrutiny.

The re-occuring of power crisis from time to time particularly in winter months continues to be debated and highlighted. While for resolving the power crisis more power generation and more power purchase are needed, but having adequate staff will make things easier for the PDD. The posts are not lying vacant only in PDD but in other departments also.

All these departments are equally important. Rather than preferring adhocism the government must equip the departments with required manpower. Any delay in filling up the posts can complicate the things further.
