Dehradun, Sep 09: In a significant move to enhance sports activities and foster a culture of athleticism alongside academics, Uttaranchal University has appointed renowned international footballer Arun Malhotra as its new Sports Advisor.

A statement said that the announcement was made following a meeting between Malhotra and Vice-Chancellor Dr Dharam Buddhi at the Vice Chancellor’s office on September 7. Arun Malhotra, a former Indian footballer and Technical Member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), brings with him a wealth of experience and numerous accolades.

Upon his appointment, Malhotra expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It has always been my priority to engage youth in sports activities and provide them a platform to showcase their talent at the highest levels.

Dr Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, emphasised the importance of this appointment for the university's sports development. "We were looking for a sports expert to widen and strengthen sports activities within the university," he said.
