Uttar Pradesh emerges as India’s economic powerhouse

Lucknow, Apr 12: Uttar Pradesh has rapidly risen to become India’s second-largest economy with a GSDP of Rs 27.5 lakh crore, up from Rs 12,500 crore before 2017. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state now contributes 9.2% to the national GDP and boasts a growth rate of 11.6%, outpacing the national average.

Experts, including former NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr. Rajiv Kumar, see UP as a future growth engine, citing its youthful population and diverse agro-climatic zones. Initiatives like One District One Product (ODOP) have drawn global interest.

At the same time, reforms in taxation and digitisation have turned the state into a fiscal front-runner, with consistent revenue surpluses and improved credit-deposit ratios. As CM Yogi sees the $1 trillion mark by 2030, UP’s transformation draws national and international attention.
