UT level football tournament kicks off in Baramulla
Baramulla, Sep 15: The UT Level Inter-Division Football Tournament for All Age Groups (AAG) Boys was officially inaugurated on Sunday at Showkat Ali Stadium, Baramulla. Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) J&K, the event, hosted by District Baramulla, will run until September 17.
The tournament was inaugurated by Nazir Ahmad Bhat, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, who welcomed participants from both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
In his address, Bhat encouraged young athletes to strive for excellence, emphasizing the importance of hard work, discipline, and teamwork in achieving success on and off the field. He extended his best wishes to all the players, expressing hope for their bright futures in sports.
The tournament features three teams each from the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, competing in three categories: Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19. Throughout the competition, both divisions will face off in all three categories, with each team scheduled to play three matches in their respective age groups.
On the opening day, the Under-19 boys match saw the Kashmir Division defeating Jammu Division with a score of 4-1. In the Under-14 boys’ match, the Kashmir Division once again emerged victorious, winning 2-0 against the Jammu Division. The Under-17 boys match further highlighted Kashmir Division’s dominance with a commanding 7-0 win.
All six teams participated in one match each on the first day, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. The second round of matches is set to commence on Monday, with the competition expected to become more intense as teams strive to secure the top spots in their respective categories.
