UT Foundation Day celebrations conclude at Amar Singh College

Srinagar, Nov 1: Amar Singh College organised a mega event to felicitate winners of the Divisional Level Contest in the categories of painting, debate, and quiz to celebrate UT Foundation Day 2023.
A statement of the Amar Singh College issued here said that the divisional contest was the last phase of the three-tier contests that took place at the college, district, and divisional levels and were organised by the Department of Higher Education.
It said that 30 winners from the 10 districts of Kashmir division in the three categories participated in the event.
The statement said that the event themes highlighted the massive transformation that J&K had undergone including infrastructure and upscaling of developmental works.
The event was attended by the Principals of Kashmir division colleges.
Director of Colleges J&K, Prof Yasmeen Ashai was the chief guest at the occasion.
Prof Ashai in her address focused on the pivotal role of educational institutions in transforming the region and fostering academic excellence.
She discussed the importance of academic freedom, research, and innovation, which are vital for the growth of J&K.
Director Planning at the Department of Higher Education, Anshu Gupta, who was the guest of honour for the event, shared insights into the planning and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education in J&K.
Her speech underscored the government's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and access to quality education.
Earlier, the event commenced with the welcome address delivered by the Principal of Amar Singh College and Nodal Principal Kashmir Division colleges, Prof Sheikh Ajaz Bashir.
Prof Bashir highlighted the importance of a corruption-free society and implementation of e-Governance measures for transparency and equity.
He reiterated the importance of education in building a brighter future for the youth of the region and urged students to actively participate in the discussions, debates, and celebrations.
The speeches were followed by the cultural programme performed by the students of the Department of Music and a film screening on the theme Badalta Jammu Kashmir by the students of the Media Department.
The event proceeded with the felicitation of the institutes and individual students who were declared winners in the three contests.
Zobiya Hasan of GCET Safapora, Ganderbal earned 1st prize in the painting competition, Irfat of Government Degree College (GDC) Killam earned the 2nd position, and the 3rd prize was given to Mehran Nisar of GDC Boys Anantnag.
