Usman Majid releases manifesto
Bandipora, Sep 08: Usman Majid, who is contesting as an independent candidate from north Kashmir's Bandipora in assembly elections, today said he will fight for the development with dedication and commitment.
He slammed political representatives of Kashmir for holding "no standing" in the Kashmir issue while also ignoring other important agendas, once elected.
Majid made these assertions during a press conference. He also released a manifesto regarding his vision for the constituency development in terms of better education, youth empowerment, tourism, uplifting of ST and fishermen communities, restoration of Wular Lake, rail connectivity, environment protection, healthcare, besides other agendas.
He said his vision is to make Bandipora a "best and popular place" in terms of tourism and development.
Majid, however, lashed at political parties, both traditional and national mainstream, stating they haven't ever worked on their manifestos. "Had they worked on their agendas, Kashmir would not have been undergoing political, economic or social turmoil," he said.
He said whenever political parties were elected on people's mandate, they forgot the development agendas and instead beat the drums of the "Kashmir dispute."
"Let me tell you, no political representative of Jammu and Kashmir has any standing when India and Pakistan or India or China talk."
