Train to Kashmir: USBRL section set to be inaugurated in first week of February

Ramban, Jan 22: With the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, its inauguration is scheduled to be held in the first week of February.

In an official communiqué, in view of the inauguration of USBRL section in the first week of February, Northern Railways North circle has asked Northern Railways Firozpur division “to arrange to move both USBRL Vande Bharat Rakes from SSB to BDGM in the morning of January 24 and January 25, 2025 for trial between SVDK and BDGM.”

The Union Railway Ministry had already announced the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.

Earlier this month, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), north circle, Dinesh Chand Deshwal had conducted a detailed inspection of Katra-Reasi-Sangaldan-Khari-Banihal section of USBRL project and had submitted a detailed inspection report to concerned Railway Ministry with the recommendations for opening new Broad Gauge (BG), Rail-Link project in Firozpur Division of Northern Railway.

Northern Railways, Firozpur division has conducted several train trial runs from Katra railway station to Reasi-Sangaldan-Banihal and Budgam so far on this newly constructed track of the vital USBRL project.
