Ramban, Feb 18: Northern Railway Firozpur division is going to introduce a new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) and Diesel Multiple (DMU) train service between Baramulla and Sangaldan stations of the Katra-Banihal section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on Tuesday.

Official sources said that Northern Railway Firozpur division received an official communiqué from CPTM, Northern Railways, Baroda House, New Delhi regarding the proposal for the introduction of a new MEMU and DMU train between Baramulla and Sangaldan stations.

“A new train has been introduced from Baramulla to Sangaldan stations and back by utilizing the path of train No-04620-04622-04617 and 04614 and 04619,” the communiqué said.

In the communiqué, it was intimated that a new section was going to open between Banihal and Sangaldan station.

“Two trains will chug and run to and fro between Baramulla and Sangaldan in the morning and afternoon. Trains will run for six days except Sunday,” it was stated.

The data of train operation was not mentioned however train timings from Baramulla to Sangaldan were mentioned in the communiqué.

Sources in Northern Railway, USBRL project informed, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to virtually dedicate to the nation the Banihal-Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan railway line and flag off the first electric train from Baramulla to Sangaldan during his visit to Jammu on February 20.”

“The Prime Minister will address a public rally in Jammu from where he is also scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation of 209 projects worth Rs 3161 crore,” sources added.
