USBRL Project | CRS’ inspection concludes with high-speed train trial run
Ramban, Feb 16: Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) concluded his two-day inspection of the new Sangaldan-Sumbar-Khari railway stations of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on Friday evening.
Official sources said, “The CRS and his team conducted the first high-speed train trial run on the Sangaldan-Sumbar and Khari rail line between the Katra and Banihal section of the USBRL project on Friday.”
They said that a high-speed 125 kmph train trial run was conducted from the Sangaldan to Sumbar up to the Khari rail line.
Engineers of the Northern Railway Construction division said, “It was a unique and first-time experience for all the engineers, architects, technicians and construction companies workers working on the USBRL project to witness a successful speed test on the track passing through tunnels and bridges enroute Sangaldan-Sumbar-Khari stations.”
They said before starting the high-speed train run, the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Dinesh Chand Deshwal checked the track, traction, telecom, signalling, platforms and Railway Station infrastructure.
This 48-km stretch of the USBRL project has four stations i.e., Sangaldan, Sumbar, Khari and Banihal in the Ramban district.
After two days of inspection of the new rail line, the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Railways, Dinesh Chand Deshwal and other railway officers returned to Srinagar for an onward journey to New Delhi.
The Sangaldan to Banihal section of the USBRL project is likely to start operation after the submission of the Commissioner Railway Safety inspection report to the government.
