US 2024 Presidential Election

PERHAPS first time in over 250-year independent history of the United States of America, presidential election on November 5, 2024, will be a unique and an unparalleled happening for multiple reasons. This hi-fi electoral contest for choosing America’s 47th  president will or could lead to electing a woman the first time. And if elected, a woman, actually daughter of immigrant parents, could be the nation’s first woman commander-in-chief, and the most powerful political leader of the world, occupying the world’s most powerful seats of power, the White House and the Oval Office. But that only if it can happen. And that’s a very big IF!

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’s Republican Party’s formidable rival, former President Donald J. Trump, a convicted felon, with 34 criminal and 14 serious business fraud cases waiting trial in various American courts. But Trump will be a veritable ‘faux-populist juggernaut,’ waiting in wings to defeat anyone who dares to impede his path to second term in the nation’s most coveted, the White House. Trump is a master accuser and is abundantly knowledgeable of his rival’s frailties, Kamala Harris’s numerous weaknesses and flaws as a working vice-president of Joe Biden, such as her unsatisfactory faulty handling of border immigrant crisis. In fact, the entire GOP-- the US grand old party – is set to pounce upon Kamala Harris’s many fallible pronouncements at home and abroad. Though Harris has ignored ‘several critical issues that could put her in shakier political ground that her opponents are ready to tie to her…’   But as one of her supporters put it, ‘after Harris entered presidential race, mems returned to the Left.’

However, Donald Trump is not going let her go free; he is said to be ready with bags full of wild allegations against the Biden-Harris administration’s numerous imperfections and flaws in handling the nation’s economy, immigration, national defence and security, foreign policy, particularly international armed conflicts in Israel and middle east, 24-month-long Ukraine imbroglio vis-a-vis China-Russia-US deteriorating relations. Also, Trump has most often lashed out at the Biden administration’s tackling taxation and trade policies, inflation and several labour unions’ multiple demands.

Donald Trump is accustomed to using malicious language and often resorts to vicious words. He has been reported calling Kamala Harris ‘radical-leftist lunatic.’  Trump’s tendency is to make personal attacks against female rivals…which was also noticed during the Trump campaign against Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Trump campaign. ‘Kamala is worse than Joe…she is a radical lunatic, she is against Crypto…Markets are skyrocketing because they’re expecting Trump to become president again.

In a newspaper report on a church meeting of a Floria group, “Believers Summit—Turning Point Action’’, Trump minced no words and directly addressed priests and pasters: “Vote just this time. If you voted me into office in November, you’ll never need to vote again…Christians, get out and vote…just this time…You won’t have to do it anymore… You know what? Four more years …It’ll be fixed; it will be fine…my beautiful Christians, I am a Christian. I love you, Christians. You got to get out and vote…In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good you are not going to have to vote.’’

Addressing an election rally recently he said that if Kamala ‘shape herself as a progressive politician, she can wrest the future from the MAGA (Make America Great Again) moment, connect with working class voters, she can make a difference.’ He said his advice to the Democrat leaders is to attend working class workers’ grievances which are not ‘cared for’. Speaking at a campaign rally, he cautioned MAGA workers that ‘if Democrats come to power everyone of you will be gone…they will be vicious.’

Meanwhile, as soon as Donald Trump Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio to be his 2024 vice presidential running mate, poll observers have pointed to Vance’s political past being a leading critic of Republican presidents’ policies, like the Ronald Reagan-George Bush era. Finally, as the campaigns of both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump pick up momentum, the coming nearly 100 will hopefully see election debates between both candidates. (Kamala Harris is yet to be officially named as Democratic Party candidate which will be done at the D.N.C. -- Democratic National Convention-- between August 19-20 at Chicago.)
