Urs of Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan (RA): Farooq, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba, Soz , Altaf Bukhari extend greetings
Srinagar, Jun 2: Senior political leaders Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari have extended greetings to people on the Urs of Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan (Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer) Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA).
National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq emphasised the unparalleled contributions and enduring legacy of Ameer-e-Kabeer, highlighting his pivotal role in promoting education, enlightenment, and peace throughout the region. He stated that Shah-e-Hamdan's vision laid the foundation for the cultural and religious identity of the society.
"Thanks to Shah-e-Hamdan’s foresight, our region became a renowned hub for globally acclaimed handicrafts," Dr Farooq said adding, "He is credited with constructing numerous mosques and acquiring land across Kashmir, which he generously bequeathed to the Muslim community. His tireless dedication to Islamic learning and the socio-political upliftment of the marginalised is truly unmatched."
"He inspired people to lead lives of piety and discipline, emphasizing that true devotion to the Almighty lies in serving those who suffer. He urged individuals to rise above pride, anger, and greed. There is much that the younger generation can learn from his life and teachings," he said.
Omar Abdullah, in his message to the people on this annual Urs, stated, "Our society has been shaped by the teachings of great Sufis, sages, and mystics. The influence of Hazrat Shah Hamadan (RA) on our lives is profound. It is essential that we introduce our younger generation to the lives and teachings of such remarkable figures. I extend my warmest greetings to everyone on this auspicious occasion, hoping it brings the much-needed peace, prosperity, and tranquility.”
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, extended her warm greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the occasion of the Urs of the revered Sufi saint, Hazrat Ameer Kabeer Shah-e-Hamdan (RA), celebrated at the historic Khankah-e-Faizpanah in Tral.
In her message, Mehbooba Mufti said, “The Urs of Hazrat Ameer Kabeer (RA) is a cherished occasion that celebrates Kashmir’s rich Sufi heritage, rooted in the values of peace, compassion, and unity. His timeless teachings continue to guide us toward fostering harmony and mutual respect in our society. I extend my heartfelt greetings to all those commemorating this sacred day at Khankah-e-Faizpanah and across the region.”
Mufti underscored the importance of preserving the spiritual and cultural legacy of
Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising that the teachings of Shah-e-Hamdan inspire hope and togetherness. She also prayed for peace, prosperity, and unity in the region, reaffirming her commitment to upholding the values of inclusivity and brotherhood.
Former Union Minister, Prof Saifuddin Soz, Former Union Minister in his statement said, “It is heartening for Kashmiris that we have continuously remembered Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) as our spiritual guide, throughout our history. I appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to pray for sustained peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Anniversary of Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer, Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA). As we know, Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, Shah-e-Hamdan (RA), will always remain alive in our hearts and minds as he had played a pivotal role in bringing Islam to Kashmir and enriching its cultural and spiritual landscape.”
