Upload window for UMEED portal on Waqf properties closes
New Delhi, Dec 7: The six-month window for uploading Waqf property details on the UMEED Central Portal officially closed on 6 December 2025, marking the completion of a major nationwide digitisation exercise mandated under the UMEED Act, 1995 and directions of the Supreme Court.
The portal, launched by Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on 6 June 2025, saw a sharp rise in activity in the final days as states rushed to complete entries.
According to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, 5,17,040 Waqf properties were initiated on the portal during the period.
Of these, 2,16,905 entries were approved, 2,13,941 remained in the submission pipeline, and 10,869 were rejected during verification.
To support the exercise, the ministry conducted multiple review meetings, state-level workshops, a two-day master training programme in Delhi, and seven zonal meetings nationwide.
Senior technical teams were deployed across states, and a dedicated helpline was set up to resolve issues during uploads.
Ministry Secretary Chandra Shekhar Kumar held more than 20 review meetings to monitor progress and guide states toward timely completion.
