Kulgam, July 5: Chief Justice (CJ), High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh today emphasised the importance of upholding justice, promoting legal literacy and empowering the legal fraternity to serve society effectively.

According to an official press he was addressing a function at D H Pora in Kulgam. Chief Justice and Administrative Judge for district Kulgam, Justice Sanjay Dhar, inaugurated the Lawyers Chambers and Library-cum-Reading room, at Munsiff Court Complex, D H Pora.

During the event, the Chief Justice interacted with the lawyers and expressed deep satisfaction over the work done by the executing agency. He emphasised upon the lawyers to make best use of the infrastructural facilitates which are being provided to them from time to time so that the benefit of these milestones should reach to the seekers of justice especially marginalised people.

During the interaction, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Administrative Judge of District Kulgam, provided guidance on effective case management, stating “Efficiency is vital in expediting justice”. As judicial officers and public prosecutors, we must strive for excellence in our responsibilities, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and impartiality."

The visit of the Chief Justice and Justice Sanjay Dhar underscores judiciary's commitment towards engaging with local communities, promoting legal awareness, and supporting educational initiatives. It is a testament to their dedication towards upholding the principles of justice and strengthening the legal and educational infrastructure in the region.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice and the Administrative Judge also attended a cultural event hosted by the Eklavya Model Residential School Tangmarg Aharbal.

Justice Kotiswar Singh highlighted the importance of education and law for the students while recommending them to read Constitution of India which is a vital document to know the rights and duties. The students had a chance to display their abilities and ingenuity on a stage that highlighted the region's rich cultural legacy. The event concluded with the distribution of wheelchairs and sports kits among the specially abled and players respectively.

Earlier in his welcome address, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kulgam, Parvaiz Iqbal, stated that the inauguration ceremony of Lawyers Chambers and Library cum reading room symbolizes a milestone in the endeavour of Judiciary for providing comprehensive facilities for legal professionals in Kulgam. The establishment of these facilities will go a long way in improving the work culture at D.H Pora which historically is a crucible of civilizations and cultures which has lent their myriad hues to this Tehsil and overall to the fabric of Kulgam, he added.

Present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Amir and SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, CJM Kulgam, Abdul Qayoom Mir, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Kulgam, Muneer Ahmad Bhat, Munsiff D.H Pora /Kulgam, Mudasir Bashir besides President and office bearers of Bar Association DH Pora.
