UP gears up for record 37-crore sapling plantation drive on July 9
Lucknow, Jul 8: In a major green push, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch a massive plantation drive on July 9, aiming to plant 37 crore saplings in a single day under the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam–2.0’ campaign.
The initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to honour mothers through tree plantation, will be formally launched by the Chief Minister from Ayodhya and Azamgarh.
Over 52 crore saplings have been readied across the state in nurseries and designated sites. Cabinet ministers, ministers of state, and senior officials have been assigned to districts to oversee and participate in the drive. Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and Forest Minister Arun Kumar Saxena will also lead plantation activities in various locations.The Chief Minister will also interact with the public and distribute cheques to farmers under the carbon credit scheme during his visit.
