Unjuman Urdu Sahafat plans International Urdu Day celebration

Srinagar, Oct 23: Unjuman Urdu Sahafat convened a key meeting on Wednesday under the leadership of President Riyaz Malik.

The discussion revolved around the association’s activities and current issues in journalism.

The Majlis Amla (Executive Council) decided to hold its annual event to commemorate International Urdu Day on November 9 in Srinagar. Plans for the ceremony were discussed, including the presentation of awards to journalists who have significantly impacted Urdu journalism. This year, five awards will be given: two posthumously to Urdu journalists and one to a respected educator in journalism.

The meeting emphasised the enduring legacy of Urdu journalists who have dedicated their lives to advancing the field, highlighting their role as guiding lights for future generations.
