Uncovered manhole poses threat in Pattan market
Pattan, Oct 18: The uncovered manhole in the main market area of Pattan, located in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has caused inconvenience to pedestrians as well as transporters, and continues to pose a threat to human lives.
Locals and shopkeepers stated that the manhole in the main market of Pattan has remained uncovered for many days, posing a risk to commuters and transporters.
A local shopkeeper remarked that this uncovered manhole could lead to a fatal accident, especially during the evening hours. “The uncovered manhole on the road poses a threat to life and must be covered as a priority,” he said.
"Despite highlighting the issue via social media and other platforms, the authorities are not taking any action. This is a busy market, and hundreds of pedestrians and transporters use this road daily. We don’t understand when the authorities will address this issue," Nazir Ahmad, a local resident, stated.
He added that the concerned authorities remain indifferent to the problem, despite repeated pleas.
Residents, shopkeepers, and transporters have appealed to higher authorities to prioritise this issue.
