Baramulla Police arrest mentally-unsound man for constructing Kaaba-like structure in Waripora Kunzar

Srinagar, Feb 6: Baramulla Police have apprehended a local resident, Abdul Razak Lone, son of Gh. Ahmad Lone from Waripora Kunzar, after a video of him went viral on social media. The individual had constructed a structure resembling the Holy Kaaba, which was later voluntarily demolished by locals during the night.

According to a police press release, a preliminary inquiry suggests that Lone appears to be mentally unsound. "As per due legal procedure, necessary medical evaluation will be conducted, and he will be taken to a psychiatric hospital after obtaining requisite orders from the Executive Magistrate," the statement read.
In an advisory to the public, Baramulla Police have also urged citizens to refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation regarding the incident on social media or other platforms.

"Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in rumor-mongering or attempts to incite unrest," the press release warned.

The police have called for maintaining peace and communal harmony, urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
