UN Commission accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

New Delhi, Sep 16: A UN-appointed Commission has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, citing widespread civilian deaths, destruction of infrastructure, and a siege that has led to famine.

The report found that Israeli forces committed four of the five acts defined as genocide under international law and attributed responsibility to Israel’s highest authorities.

Commission Chair Navi Pillay said the evidence shows a clear intent to destroy the Palestinian population in Gaza.

The panel also criticised Israel for ignoring a 2024 International Court of Justice order to allow humanitarian aid into the territory.
