New Delhi, Nov 11: The United Kingdom has issued a fresh travel advisory cautioning its citizens against travel to parts of India following a deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening that killed at least 12 people and injured several others. In an update posted on its official website, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) stated: “There has been an explosion at the Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station, New Delhi. If you’re in the immediate area, follow the advice of local authorities and monitor local media.”

The advisory also reminded British nationals that travelling against FCDO guidance could invalidate their travel insurance coverage.

The FCDO reiterated its long-standing restrictions on travel to sensitive regions, advising against all travel within 10 kilometres of the India–Pakistan border, except at the Wagah–Attari crossing point near Amritsar, which it noted remains closed to travellers. The advisory said this border area “remains highly militarised” and subject to sporadic tensions between the two countries. It also advised against all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including popular destinations such as Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Srinagar, and the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, citing continued security risks. The only exceptions are air travel to and from Jammu city and movement within the city itself. The UK’s updated travel advisory comes amid heightened security measures across several states following Monday’s explosion, with authorities increasing surveillance and strengthening border checks along the Indo-Nepal.
