Ujala Cygnus launches healthcare entrepreneurship initiative for women
Srinagar, Aug 05: Ujala Cygnus Healthcare commemorated the second anniversary of its Srinagar unit by launching an innovative initiative named Jan Sehat, aimed at empowering women from remote areas to become healthcare entrepreneurs.
The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including R R Bhatnagar, Adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, and Dr Mushtaq Rather, Director Health Services Kashmir.
The Jan Sehat initiative is a groundbreaking programme designed to provide training, support, and resources to women in far-flung regions. This initiative recognises the critical role that women play in community health and aims to enhance their capabilities by equipping them with essential medical testing equipment at no cost. Among the key provisions of this scheme is the distribution of advanced biochemistry analysers capable of conducting 20-28 tests simultaneously. This technology will enable these aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs to offer vital diagnostic services within their communities.
During the launch ceremony, Dr Pervez Sofi, Managing Director of Ujala Cygnus Kashmir Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that it would not only foster entrepreneurship among women but also contribute significantly to improving healthcare access in underserved areas. He emphasised that this scheme would provide sustainable livelihoods for women while enhancing local healthcare infrastructure.
To further support these women entrepreneurs, Ujala Cygnus has committed to providing a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 per woman involved in the programme. This financial assistance aims to alleviate initial economic burdens as they establish their healthcare services.
Founder and Director of Ujala Cygnus, Dr Suchin Bajaj, also attended the event and highlighted the importance of community-driven healthcare solutions. He reiterated that empowering women is crucial for building resilient health systems and ensuring comprehensive care reaches every corner of J&K.
“As Ujala Cygnus celebrates its two years of service in Srinagar, it remains dedicated to its mission of enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality across all regions. The Jan Sehat initiative stands as a testament to this commitment and reflects a progressive step towards inclusive health entrepreneurship,” a statement said.
