Udhampur/Poonch, June 15: As part of the nationwide ‘Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the district administrations of Udhampur and Poonch kickstarted a 15-day awareness and benefit saturation campaign aimed at ensuring holistic development of tribal communities.

In Udhampur, the district administration organised a comprehensive awareness and outreach camp to mark the commencement of the campaign and to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai presided over the event as the chief guest, while Member Legislative Assembly Chenani, Balwant Singh Mankotia, attended as the guest of honour.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the Abhiyan’s objective of achieving full saturation of central government schemes in tribal villages. She called for active participation from civil society, youth, former PRI representatives, and voluntary organizations to maximize awareness and reach. The campaign, which runs till June 30, aims to bridge development gaps and accelerate social inclusion in tribal-dominated regions.

MLA Chenani urged tribal communities to take full advantage of the schemes being extended under the initiative and emphasised the need for intensified grassroots-level awareness. He commended the district administration’s efforts in bringing public services directly to the people.

Various government departments had set up information stalls at the venue to disseminate details about welfare schemes. Both the DC and MLA inspected these stalls and reviewed on-ground implementation status. A cultural programme by the Information Department Udhampur added vibrancy to the event, drawing attention to the campaign’s core messages.

In Poonch, the campaign was launched by Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal at the university campus. He inspected stalls set up by line departments and emphasised that 17 ministries and 25 flagship government schemes will be implemented as part of the saturation drive. These include interventions in housing, water, healthcare, sanitation, education, electricity, digital access, and sustainable livelihoods.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the campaign aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring last-mile service delivery to all eligible tribal beneficiaries. Officers from various departments briefed participants on scheme eligibility and urged communities to actively attend the upcoming saturation camps.

The ‘Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ seeks to transform tribal areas through participatory governance and by ensuring inclusive access to public services.
