Udhampur Police attach Rs 30 lakh property of inter-state drug peddler
Ramban, Jan 31: Udhampur Police have attached a property worth approximately Rs 30 lakh belonging to an inter-state drug peddler from Punjab under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property is a truck bearing registration number PB13AR-5475, owned by Sanaullah Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Dhuri road, Sangrur, Punjab. The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 125/2020, registered at the Police Station Udhampur, under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act.
Police said the vehicle was identified as proceeds of crime generated through illicit narcotics trafficking.
During the investigation, detailed financial scrutiny and backward link analysis revealed that the accused had acquired the truck using money earned from illegal drug-related activities. Based on the findings, the investigating officer (IO) passed the attachment order on Saturday, and further legal proceedings are underway. With this latest action, the total value of NDPS-related property attachments by Udhampur Police this year has reached approximately 1.40 crore, underscoring the district police’s sustained crackdown against drug peddlers and narcotics networks.
