Udhampur accident: DG CRPF visits injured personnel at military hospital
Srinagar, Aug 8: A day after a tragic road accident in Udhampur claimed the lives of three CRPF personnel and left several injured, Director General CRPF G P Singh on Friday visited the Military Hospital to meet the wounded jawans, assuring them of the best medical care.
“The entire force stands solidly behind our brave jawans. We salute the courage of those we lost and are doing everything necessary to support the injured and their families,” said the DG CRPF. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the @adgpi medical team for their swift response, dedication, and professional care provided to the injured CRPF personnel.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle on Thursday, carrying its personnel, skidded off a mountainous road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of three jawans and injuries to several others.
The incident occurred on the treacherous Kandva–Basantgarh road—a narrow and challenging stretch often used by security forces for operational movement in the region. According to officials, the vehicle, carrying a contingent of CRPF personnel, veered off the road under unclear circumstances and fell into a steep gorge. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed, and an internal inquiry has been initiated.
Local residents, along with police and CRPF personnel, immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. The injured jawans were evacuated from the remote area and shifted to the nearby hospital. Those with serious injuries were later referred to the Military Hospital in Udhampur, where they are currently receiving specialised medical care under the supervision of Indian Army doctors.
“Care, respect and assurance Shri @gpsinghips, DG #CRPF visited brave CRPF troopers, seriously injured and hospitalised in Military Hospital, Udhampur after their vehicle met with an accident during operations. DG #CRPF spoke to the injured personnel and interacted with the doctors of Indian Army to inquire about the condition of the troopers.
