The social media users were quick to give rise to conspiracies, of the animal being left to stray in the capital Srinagar on purpose. However, following the widespread of video, the wildlife department debunked these claims, saying the animal had strayed from the national park of Dachigam.

There have been no reports of these animal straying or roaming in Kashmir in the recent history. Except for the times of Dogra Maharaja, who is said to have brought these animals from mainland India, in order to hunt them.
