Two wild boars spotted near CD Hospital in Dal Gate, tranquilized
Srinagar, Oct 09: The Wildlife Department Kashmir Wednesday said that it tranquilized two wild boars near the Chest Disease (CD) Hospital in Srinagar's Dal Gate area.
Quoting officials, news agency KDC reported that the locals of the area had reported to the department the sighting of two wild boars close to the busy streets. Following this, a team from the department was sent who tranquilized the unwanted animals.
They said, they took the animals to a "more suitable environment."
A couple of days earlier, a video of wild boars straying near the world-famous Dal Lake along the Boulevard went viral, sparking concerns among the public regarding the animal which is considered filthy in Islam.
The social media users were quick to give rise to conspiracies, of the animal being left to stray in the capital Srinagar on purpose. However, following the widespread of video, the wildlife department debunked these claims, saying the animal had strayed from the national park of Dachigam.
There have been no reports of these animal straying or roaming in Kashmir in the recent history. Except for the times of Dogra Maharaja, who is said to have brought these animals from mainland India, in order to hunt them.
