Two village defence guards shot dead in J&K’s Kishtwar
Srinagar, Nov 07: Terrorists on Thursday killed two members of the Village Defense Guard (VDG) in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Quoting officials, the news agency KDC reported that the guards - Kuldeep Kumar, son of Amar Chand; and Nazir Ahmad, son of Mohammad Khalid, both residents of Ohil Kuntwara - were kidnapped and later on shot dead in cold blood.
Militant group 'Kashmir Tigers’ while owning the killings shared the purported pictures of the slain duo on social media.
Officials said Army, security forces have rushed to the area to retrieve the bodies of both the VDGs.They said security forces has launched a massive search operation to eliminate the terrorists.
Sanathan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar has given Kishtwar band call on Friday against the killings.
Village Defence Guards (VDGs) are a civilian militia in Jammu and Kashmir raised to protect residents from militants.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari have condemned the killings and expressed sympathies with the families of the slain.
