Two vehicles seized, drivers arrested for illegal extraction of minerals in Awantipora
Srinagar, Oct 20: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora arrested two persons and seized 02 vehicles including 01 JCB used in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.
An official said that a police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by In-charge PP Reshipora SI Muneer Ahmad seized two vehicles including a JCB without registration number and a dumper vehicle bearing registration number JK13D-8100.
He said that two person who were driving these vehicles identified as Arshid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat, resident of Renzipora; and Mysar Yousuf Bandh, son of Mohd Yousuf Bandh, resident of Kachkoot were arrested.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 221/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated, official added.
Police requested community members to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
