Two truck drivers involved in fatal hit-and-run case at Qazigund held: Police
Srinagar, Nov 16: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that it have successfully apprehended two truck drivers involved in a tragic hit-and-run Road Traffic Accident (RTA) that occurred on the intervening night of Friday near the Walnut Factory, Qazigund.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that in the incident, a scooty rider, Mohd Iqbal Sheikh (40), resident of Qewa Qazigund, lost his life on the spot after being hit by two rashly driven trucks. In this connection, FIR No. 241/2025 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Qazigund.
During the course of investigation, through meticulous analysis of CCTV footage, both drivers namely Sonu Singh, S/O Dharmindher Singh, R/O Barnala; and Arshpreet Singh, S/O Jagsir Singh, R/O Ludhyana who were operating trucks PB10JA-1651 and PB06BD-7171 and had fled from the spot—were traced and arrested by a special team of Police Station Qazigund.
Kulgam Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring road safety and taking strict action against violators endangering public lives. Further legal proceedings have been initiated in the case, reads the statement.
