Two notorious drug peddlers with contraband arrested in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, July 11: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Shrai Tangmarg, intercepted a person identified as Abdul Ahad Wagay son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din resident of Shrai. During search, 11.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw & Poppy Powder was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg where he remains in custody, a police spokesperson in a statement said.

He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been initiated.

During questioning, the accused disclosed the name of his accomplice drug peddler identified as Mohammad Ashraf Wani son of Gh Rasool resident of Kitchimatpora, and subsequently he was arrested and on his disclosure 900 grams of Poppy Powder was recovered from his possession. He has also been shifted to PS Tangmarg.
