Two drug peddlers with contraband held in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, July 09: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Mulgam-Awloora link road, intercepted two persons identified as Hashim Ahmad Mir son of Farooq Ahmad, and Aqib Ahmad Shah son of Gh Mohd, both residents of Mulgam Kunzer. During search, 32 grams of contraband Charas like substance & Short digital Scaler was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kunzer where they remain in custody, a police spokesperson in a statement said.

Accordingly a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation has been initiated, he said.

Police urged common masses to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 if they witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere in their surroundings. They requested people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.

Police assured community members that they will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
