Two drug peddlers held with contraband, cash in Kashmir: Police
Srinagar, Apr 13: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and Sopore and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances & cash from their possession.
A police in a statement said that a police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Reshipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Towseef Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir, resident of Brawbandina. During search, 1.240 kg of Charas like substance (in shape of Sticks) was recovered from his possession.
In another incident, a police party of Police Station Panzalla under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad, at a checkpoint established at Tri-Junction Vuhlutra-Shutloo Panzalla, arrested a drug peddler identified as Basharat Ahmad Beigh, son of Mohammad Afzal Beigh, resident of Badam Bagh Sopore. During search, police party recovered 312 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon Plus and cash amount of Rs 10,000 from his possession, the statement said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant section of NDPS Act stands registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
Police in a statement urged the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. They also requested general public to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
