Two brothers from north Kashmir killed in Srinagar-Jammu highway accident
Banihal, Jan 10: Two young brothers from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district lost their lives after their truck plunged into a deep gorge at Battery Chasma, an accident-prone stretch on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
The accident occurred late Thursday night at around 11:30 pm when the truck bearing Registration No. JK04E-9110, reportedly out of the driver’s control, veered off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge near Monkey Morh, Battery Cheshma on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The officials said that soon after the information received, a rescue operation was launched by Police, SDRF, Traffic Police and Civil QRT Ramban, but due to the deep sloppy and dangerious terrain the operation was suspended till morning.
The rescue operation as per officials was restarted in the morning and both the truck passengers found dead deep in the gorge.
The officials said that the truck was on way to Kashmir valley loaded with iron bars.
Bashir Ahmed Magray, who was leading the rescue operation, said that the truck was rolled down in a 700-feet deep gorge and two dead bodies was located around the debris of damaged truck.
He said both dead bodies have been shifted to DH Ramban.
The officials said that both dead bodies are brothers to each other, and have been identified as Yasir Imtyaz Khan, and Danish Imtiyaz Khan, (aged between 16 -22), sons of Imtiyaz Ahmed Khan, resident of Chijhama, Rafiabad of Baramulla district.
