Two arrested after viral video shows offensive behaviour in Dal lake

Srinagar, June 11: Police have arrested two persons after a video went viral on social media showing  unidentified individuals engaging in offensive behavior on a shikara in Dal Lake.

The individuals, visibly inebriated, have sparked widespread outrage.

The incident, which came to light through the rapid dissemination of the video, prompted the Srinagar Police to register Case FIR no. 83/2024 under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Ram Munshibagh.

This section pertains to deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

A spokesperson for the Srinagar Police stated, "We have taken cognizance of the video and are committed to upholding the law and maintaining public order. The behavior exhibited in the video is unacceptable and will be dealt with accordingly."
