Trump’s Asia Visit: US, China reach framework for trade deal

New Delhi, Oct 27: US President Donald Trump has concluded the first leg of his Asia tour in Malaysia, where American negotiators reached a framework for a trade deal with China, easing tensions ahead of Trump’s upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During his Malaysia visit, Trump attended the signing of a peace declaration between Thailand and Cambodia before departing for Japan, where he is set to meet Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The White House said the trade framework marks a key step toward resolving long-standing economic disputes between Washington and Beijing. Trump is also expected to press Xi to support US efforts to increase pressure on Russia during their talks later this week.

Meanwhile, back in Washington, the government shutdown continues, as lawmakers voice concern over the administration’s widening military operations against suspected drug trafficking networks in the Caribbean.
