Trekking restricted in Gulmarg, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara
Baramulla, Sep 04: The Office of the Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, has issued an advisory restricting all trekking activities in areas under its jurisdiction, including the districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara, without prior permission from the competent authority.
The order, issued in view of prevailing weather conditions and safety concerns, makes it clear that even short treks in lower areas should not be undertaken unless duly authorised. Officials said the measure has been enforced strictly in the interest of public safety.
The advisory warns that any violation of the order will be at the sole risk and responsibility of the individual concerned.
Copies of the advisory have been circulated to the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara, as well as the Director Tourism Kashmir, Joint Director Tourism Kashmir, and Joint Director Information Kashmir for wide publicity.
Signed by the Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, the notice underscores that the restrictions are being implemented as a precautionary step to prevent mishaps in vulnerable terrain during unstable weather. [KNT]
