Trekker dies, another injured

Baramulla, July 29: A man lost his life while another suffered critical injuries during a trekking expedition in the Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil Ahmad of Pahjan, Tangmarg.

The injured has been identified as Muneer Ahmad.

The incident occurred when the duo was on a trekking expedition.

As per the reports, eager to explore the scenic beauty of the area, both the trekkers embarked on their trek early Monday morning.

However, as the day progressed, they were caught in an unexpected heavy rainfall, which rendered the trekking route extremely hazardous.

The mishap occurred after both trekkers fell from a high altitude due to slippery conditions.

Although Sahil was rushed to a nearby health centre, he was declared dead on arrival. The injured was later shifted to Shere-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Bemina (JVC) Srinagar for specialised treatment.
